Dit prachtige en ongebruikelijke kunstwerk is gemaakt door liefhebbers van de nacht. Het doel is om de waarde van het nachtleven te onderstrepen. Het helpt ons herinneren waarom we dansen, ontmoeten, zwerven en zweven.
Het laat ons voelen hoe het nachtleven kan zijn.
Het neemt ons mee naar een mooi moment op de juiste plek tijdens die prachtige nacht.
Het vertelt ons om samen te dansen, te genieten en ontmoeten.
Dit is waar de nacht om draait.

DE NACHTKRACHT is een multidisciplinair kunstwerk. Een ets gecombineerd met spoken word en muziek. Mathieu Schellekens heeft een ets gemaakt op basis van het prachtige verhaal dat Justin Samgar over de nacht vertelt. Hame heeft vervolgens een soundtrack gemaakt voor de spoken wordt, dat later ontpopt in een euforische track tot aan de volgende ochtend.
SYN collective heeft een lijst ontwikkeld die de audio kan afspelen door je koptelefoon op de ets aan te sluiten. Op deze manier nemen de woorden in combinatie met de muziek je mee terwijl je de tijd hebt om alle nachtelijke activiteit van de ets te aanschouwen.

Zoals op de foto's is te zien, is het mogelijk om een koptelefoon op de ets aan te sluiten en de woorden in combinatie met muziek te horen.

Grootte: dit kunstwerk is ongeveer 106x87cm. Dat is ongebruikelijk groot voor een ets en het grootste formaat ets dat Mathieu Schellekens in zijn leven maakte.

Mathieu Schellekens
Mathieu is een kunstenaar en illustrator, wonend en werkend in Amsterdam. Met zijn werk probeert hij een verhalend beeld te scheppen, zonder voor de toeschouwer dat verhaal teveel in te vullen. De toeschouwer mag zijn fantasie de vrije loop laten. Mathieu maakt een romantisch beeld dat intrigeert qua contrast, zowel in techniek als esthetiek.
De nacht is hem dierbaar. Als kunstenaar is hij op zijn creatiefst wanneer de zon onder is. In de nacht komt er een ongeremdheid naar boven. Bij het gebrek aan daglicht worden de oneffenheden van het leven onzichtbaar en vloeien de hartstocht, inspiratie, fantasie, intimiteit en muziek rijkelijker.
Met NACHTKRACHT brengt hij een ode aan de nacht in al zijn glorie. Gulzigheid, ijdelheid en andere zonden, afgewisseld met romantiek, saamhorigheid, muziek, verdoving, vervoering, psychedelica, smartlappen, drank, liefde, dans en andere menselijke dingen. Ter inspiratie heeft hij “Tuin der Lusten” van Jeroen Bosch gebruikt als compositioneel voorbeeld. In dit Bijbelse tafereel van het aardse bestaan komen veel van dezelfde aspecten van de mens naar boven.
Justin Samgar
Justin Samgar is sinds 2009 een spoken word artiest. Een kunstenaar die bevraagd en vertelt over liefde, geloof, angst, groei, verbinding, pijn en plezier. Zijn persoonlijke verhalen leggen gevoeligheden bloot maar zijn juist door hun kwetsbaarheid krachtig. Je onthoudt hem door zijn sympathieke stemgeluid en het hypnotiserende ritme in zijn voordracht.
Met zijn alter ego SpaceAgePoetry combineert hij meertalige spoken word met elektronische muziek en werkt hij samen met dj’s en producers van over de hele wereld.
Justin is altijd al een nachtdier geweest. Zowel het creëren als het optreden met SpaceAgePoetry gebeurt in de nachtelijke uren. De nacht is voor hem een plek waar hij rust ervaart. Als de meeste mensen slapen is er voor zijn gevoel meer ruimte voor vrijheid.
Omdat Justin graag met andere kunstenaars samenwerkt om nieuwe creaties tot leven te brengen ze hij meteen ja op dit project. Het is voor zijn gevoel een brug tussen de kunstwereld, de nachtcultuur en zijn eigen spoken word community.
HAME
Hame is een producer uit Amsterdam die zijn debut EP ‘Compathy’ uitbracht op het Belgische label Small Steps in oktober 2022. In zijn producties vindt Hame de perfecte balans tussen dansbare energie en emotie, waardoor er bijzondere momenten van saamhorigheid ontstaan op de dansvloer.
Sinds de release treedt Hame al op in België, Engeland, Nederland en Duitsland met zijn live set vol onuitgebracht materiaal. Voor Nachtkracht heeft Hame de soundtrack gemaakt onder Justin’s prachtige woorden over de nacht. Na de woorden krijgt Hame de ruimte om dit muziekstuk verder uit te bouwen tot een reis die je meeneemt tot de zonsopgang van de vroege ochtend.

NACHTKRACHT is a multidisciplinary art piece in which we combined spoken word, music and etching. The etching, made by Mathieu Schellekens, is based on the poem written by Justin Samgar. Hame created a beautiful soundtrack to enhance the poem, evolving into an energetic euphorical journey after the spoken words.
SYN collective developed a frame that can play audio by connecting your headphones. This way, the words and music are integrated into the art piece to create one piece of art for the mind, eyes and ears.

SYN teamed up with Rudolf Trossen, Mosel Valley's finest natural Riesling maker, and Amsterdam based music producer No.Pia.No to translate the fermentation process of wine into music.
No.Pia.No used the sound of the fermentation process in Rudolf Trossen's wine tanks, originally recorded by Knut Aufermann. The music starts with Knut Aufermann interviewing Rudolf Trossen about the fermentation process. No.Pia.No then carefully selected rhythmic parts of the recording to build the backbone of the composition. He added beautiful evolving and hypnotising instrumentation. The result is a calming yet captivating musical journey, making you feel like a little bubble floating around in Rudolf's fermentation tank.
Take a sip, sit back, put on some headphones and listen to the track below.

The 2020 Riesling Hubertus welcomes you with a fine and spicy freshness. Like most of Trossen’s unfiltered white wines, it has a slightly oily texture, a certain liveliness and density, and glides invigoratingly over the tongue like spring water. The wine smells of yellow fruits like Mirabelle, Citrus and Grapefruit. After a few minutes in the glass, when the inflowing oxygen opens the oxidation, the canon of scents and aromas expands: dried plums appear and memories of cinnamon and cloves. The wine appears balanced, relaxed and rested, joyfully communicating this tranquility to the attentive connoisseur.
Every bottle of this art project is signed by No.Pia.No, numbered and comes with two versions of the music. The original version with the interview and the instrumental version.

RUDOLF TROSSEN
Rita and Rudolf Trossen decided in 1978 to convert their entire estate to Biodynamics. In 2010 they began to delve into natural winemaking with their Purus line of wines. These wines have zero additives, and are unfined and unfiltered. They allow their wines to sit on the lees for extended periods of time “until all biological processes have come to an end.” The depth of character and expression Riesling can reach without additives is truly amazing.
This is Mosel Valley Riesling at its finest.

Amsterdam based producer No.Pia.No creates down-tempo, moody and hypnotising music. He combines field recordings, synthesises and more classical instrumentation and spends a lot of time trying to find sounds with the right texture to fit the composition. The SYN SoundSculpture is a 3D printed sculpture of a sound wave. It brings sound to life into a physical object.
Some sounds are linked to a special memory… Like a message from a loved one, the song of your wedding dance, a recording of one of the first words of your child or your first musical creation as an artist.
Unfortunetaly, those memories stay tugged away – digitalised on your phones or computer.
Michelle Falck found a way to visualise sound with the SYN SoundSculpture. This way, these memories are brought to life into a sculpture that you can touch and see. And every time you see it, you will remember. See it as a beautiful way to cherish these memories more often.
Any audio can be translated into a SoundSculpture.
Every SoundSculpture is custom made and unique. Send us your audio file during check-out and we will design a 3D sculpture based on its waveform. The SoundSculpture’s solid material and heavy weight give it an elegant look and quality feel.

1. How do I upload an audio file?
You can upload it during check-out via the upload file button. We support most common audio files, but if you have a specific one or if you experience any troubles, just send us an email via weare@syncollective.nl. We’re good at solving creative problems and are happy to think along with your idea for a SoundSculpture.
2. Will I get to see what my SoundSculpture looks like before ordering?
SoundSculptures will only have their final looks after 3D printing, meaning that we know what it looks like quite late in the process. But we’ve tested it, and they all look beautiful. So don’t worry too much about it and appreciate the uniqueness of your Sculpture.
3. How will people know what the audio is?
We give you an option to name the audio. This name will be written on the insert in the box. Next to that, we give you an option to lasercut the name of the recording, song or the words of the message on the wooden block.
4. Why does it take 3-4 weeks to create?
The SoundSculpture is made with quality material and the latest 3D printing techniques that are more rare. It’s final print is made in Belgium and the other parts of the process are done by hand in Amsterdam. Some Sculptures require extra care, because we want all Sculptures to be steady, beautiful ones. We give ourselves some extra time for full focus. Patience pays off.
